To achieve a flawless complexion, perfectly even, shine-free, and without imperfections, it's important to choose the right foundation and know how to apply it. But even with the perfect product, a wrong technique can ruin your makeup.

Makeup with foundation

Mistake #1: Choosing a foundation that's too dark

Choosing the right foundation is essential.

A large number of women don't know which shade to choose, and that's the main mistake with foundation.

Don't pick a darker shade to look healthier; it will have the opposite effect!

To warm up your complexion, opt for bronzing powders instead.

Your foundation should match the exact color of your skin.

To find it, test it on your jawline, not the back of your hand.

Also, pay attention to undertones—don’t choose a rosy shade if you have golden skin tones.

Mistake #2: Choosing the wrong foundation texture

It’s crucial to choose the foundation texture that best suits your skin.

Your skin has its needs, and you need to listen to it.

A very important step is hydration before applying makeup.

If your skin tends to be dry, opt for a hydrating liquid foundation.

On the other hand, if your skin tends to get shiny, choose a powder or mattifying foundation instead.

Mistake #3: Forgetting the neck

We've all done it.

To avoid the mask effect, make sure not to forget to apply foundation to your neck.

There’s no need to add more product, which could stain your collar, but blend and extend the foundation from your face down to your neckline.

If you skip this step, the line between your jaw and neck will be too noticeable, and you can say goodbye to a natural look.

Mistake #4: Using too much powder

Loose powder is indeed ideal for setting foundation and avoiding shine, but you must go easy on it!

Using too much product can cake your makeup and leave your face looking stiff.

Imperfections will stand out even more.

Opt for a translucent powder, use a very small amount, and blend it well outward from your face.

Be careful not to confuse bronzing powder with blush—brown tones won't flatter you the same way a pink or apricot shade will.

Mistake #5: Not using the right tools

Foundation can be applied with your fingers, a sponge, or a brush.

Fingers absorb the product, making it difficult to achieve an even finish, and sponges are not very hygienic.

The best option is a brush, even if it requires some dexterity at first.

It’s more hygienic, provides a more even result (no fingerprints), and is more economical as it allows you to spread the foundation evenly without wasting product.

The key is to clean it thoroughly after use.
